Cedar City, UT – Despite scoring a season-high five runs in game two, the Wagner College softball team dropped two games to Bradley and Utah State on day two of the Utah State Tournament in Cedar City, UT.

The Seahawks fell to Bradley, 10-1, in game one, before dropping a 14-5 decision to Utah State. With the two losses, Wagner sits at 0-10 on the season.

Game 1 Recap – Bradley 10, Wagner 1

The Seahawks compiled six hits in the first matchup of the day, getting one run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

After freshman Kat Holmes-Stall (Trabuco Canyon, CA / Santa Margarita Catholic) singled to the pitcher, sophomore Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) followed with an RBI double, her second hit of the game, to put Wagner on the board. Prihoda now has four runs batted in on the young season, which is tied for the team lead.

Senior Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West), along with freshmen Amelia van Orman (Orange, CA / Lutheran High School of Orange County) and Alyssa Tucker (Laguna Niguel, CA / Santa Margarita Catholic), also reached base safely in the contest.

Senior McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL / Lakewood Ranch) suffered the loss in the circle, while Bradley's Emma Jackson earned the victory. Four different Braves recorded two RBIs, along with 16 hits in the game.

Game 2 Recap – Utah State 14, Wagner 5

In game two of the doubleheader, Wagner scored one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings, before adding three more in the bottom of the seventh.

Bender led the fourth inning off with a base hit and advanced to third on a single by Tredway. Two batters later, freshman Kaila Smith (Millville, NJ / Millville), who recorded her first two career home runs yesterday, reached on an error at third base, allowing Bender to score from third.

One frame later, the top of the Seahawk lineup produced another run. A Prihoda bunt single was followed by a base hit from Bender, while a wild pitch allowed both runners to move up. Tredway then recorded her second hit of the game, doubling the Green and White's run total.

The Green and White loaded the bases in the seventh and capitalized when van Orman showed patience at the plate and worked a walk, allowing Tredway to come home. Next up, freshman Alyssa Tucker (Laguna Niguel, CA / Santa Margarita Catholic) was able to score both Smith and Aplin with a base hit for her first career RBIs.

Utah State scored three runs each in the first, fourth, and fifth inning and added five in the seventh in recording its second victory over Wagner in two days.

Sophomore Ciera Luna (Highland, CA / Aquinas High School) was charged with the loss after going the distance, recording one strikeout.

Wagner will play its second game against Soutern Utah tomorrow at 2:30 pm ET before playing a doubleheader against Utah Valley on Wednesday.
