Men’s Lacrosse Breezes Past Hampton 10-3 For Third Straight Win

Staten Island, NY –
Junior attackman Andrew Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) scored two goals and recorded a career-high four assists in leading the Wagner men's lacrosse team to its third consecutive victory, a 10-3 decision over Hampton at Hameline Field this afternoon.
 
With today's win, the Seahawks, who will gun for a program-record four-game winning streak on Sunday when they host Mercer in a 1:00 p.m. faceoff, improve to 4-3 on the season with today's win while the Pirates fall to 1-3.

Freshman attackman Nic Ancona (Warrenton, VA / Paul VI) registered three points with two goals and one assist while fellow freshman attackman Dominic Branda (Ringwood, NJ / Don Bosco Prep) added two goals for the Seahawks.
 
Junior attackman Joe Lomeli (Clark, NJ / A.L. Johnson / NJIT) chipped in with one goal and two assists while fifth-year senior midfielder Paul DeVita (Westfield, NJ / Westfield), sophomore attackman John Norton (Catonsville, MD / Mount Saint Joseph), and freshman attackman Dylan Kaminski (St. Albert, Canada / Heritage Woods) finished with one goal apiece. For Kaminski, his goal was the first of his career.
 
Wagner opened the game on a 4-0 run en route to seizing a 9-2 lead at halftime. With head coach Matt Poskay substituting liberally, the team's played a scoreless third quarter before finding the net once apiece in the fourth quarter.
 
The Green & White outshot Hampton 37-30, led in ground balls by a 28-22 count, and won 10-of-16 faceoffs.
 
The Seahawks used four different goalies on the day. Sophomore Matt Sefcik (Towaco, NJ / Morristown Beard) recorded two saves before yielding to sophomore local product Omar Alhagiko (Staten Island, NY / Curtis High School) at the 20:49 into the first half with Wagner leading 6-1. Alhagiko recorded five saves over the final 9:11 of the opening half while holding the Pirates scoreless during this stretch.
 
Freshman Sean Lanier (Ellicott City, MD/ McDonogh) opened the second half in goal and wound up totaling four saves while holding Hampton scoreless over the course of the quarter in his first collegiate action. Senior David Hwang (Hauppauge, NY / Hauppauge) then came on to play the fourth quarter, picking up five saves while allowing just one goal in his 15 minutes of action.
