Final Results
Boston, MA – The Wagner College swimming and diving team dropped its season opener by a count of 208-134 to Northeastern despite finishing the two-day competition on Saturday with five first-place finishes.
Freshman
Wyeth Spike (Portland, ME/Casco Bay) took home top honors in the 200 Backstroke with a finals time of 2:07.25. In the 200 Breaststroke as the Seahawks swept the event by taking the top three spots, led by sophomore
Jenna D'Allegro (Skillman, NJ/Montgomery), who clocked in with a time of 2:30.82. Sophomore
Colleen Higgins (Crozet, VA/Western Albermarle HS) took second with a time of 2:31.69 while
Sidney Marjamaa (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) posted a finals time of 2:33.98.
The Seahawks also took the top three spots in the In the 100 FLY, with junior
Andrea Gustafsson (Malmo, Sweden/ProCivitas Privata Gymnasium) taking home first-place honors with a time of 59.91. Senior
Erin Finn (Middletown, NJ/Middletown North) placed second with a time of 1:01.66 while freshman
Megan Chiu (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge High School) posted a time of 1:01.82 in her first collegiate meet to place third.
The Green & White dominated in the 400 IM, led by senior
Leahi Camacho (Kailua Kona, HI/Kealakene), who touched the wall in 4:41.70 followed by sophomore Kaitlyn Mulcahy (Helmetta, NJ/Spotswood) in second at 4:44.62 while sophomore
Kelli Boston (Roseville, CA/Woodcreek) rounded out the top three with a time of 4:45.45.
In the 400 Freestyle Relay, Wagner's "A" squad, comprised of junior
Dorian McMenemy (Northborough, MA/Algonquin Regional), senior
Kirsty Hessing (Bloomington, IL/Normal Community), sophomore
Kelsey Eastman (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) and Gustafsson came in first with time of 3:38.17. The Seahawk "B" squad, made up of senior
Maddie McNichol (Downingtown, PA/Henderson), freshman
Ida Eriksen (Sundbyberg, Sweden/Universal School), sophomore
Makenna Depuydt (Santa Cruz, CA/Soquel) and sophomore
Emily Moore (Temecula, CA/Great Oak) touched the wall in 3:41.93.
The Green & White will next be in action on October 21 when they take part in the Iona Quad Meet, where the Seahawks will swim against the host Gaels, as well as Northeast Conference (NEC) members Sacred Heart and St. Francis Brooklyn. The meet begins at 11:30 a.m.
