Staten Island, NY –
The Wagner women's swimming and diving team earned a victory over cross-town rival St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday at the Spiro Sports Center. After the meet, the Seahawks honored their two seniors, Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI / Hawaii Preparatory Academy) and Katja Claesson (Fullerton, CA / Troy High School), who once again earned multiple individual first-place finishes in the 142-91 win.

"Katja and Anu have been instrumental to our team's success over the last few years," said head coach Colin Shannahan after the meet. "Not only did they help us win our first NEC Championship during their freshman year, but they have achieved ongoing athletic accolades at the conference and national levels. We will miss their leadership, friendship, and spirit most of all."

Cleasson cruised to victories in the 50 breast (30.20) and 100 breast (1:05.37), while Nihipali won both the 50 back (27.82) and 100 IM (1:00.58).

Nihipali, Claesson, junior Kirsty Hessing (Bloomington, IL / Normal Community), and junior Erin Finn (Middletown, NJ / Middletown North) combined for a first place finish in the 200 medley relay, touching the wall in 1:49.02.

Freshman Makenna DePuydt (Santa Cruz, CA / Soquel) earned a victory in the 200 free (1:57.48), as well as the 500 free (5:17.50), while freshman Kelsey Eastman (Effort, PA / Pleasant Valley) won the 50 free (24.35) and 100 free (54.31).

Junior Leahi Camacho (Kailua Kona, HI / Kealakene) took first-place honors in the 100 fly (1:00.99), while freshman Paige MacNeil (Branford, CT / Branford) won the 100 back (1:01.37). Sophomore Andrea Gustafsson (Malmo, Sweden / ProCivitas Privata Gymnasium) rounded out the afternoon for Wagner with a first place in the 50 fly (26.94).

With its victory over the Terriers, Wagner finishes the regular season with an 8-2 record in dual meets this season. Next up, the team will compete in the Northeast Conference Championships, which will take place from February 15-18 in Cambridge, MA.

The Seahawks were picked to finish second in the NEC's Preseason Coaches' Poll and will try to set their optimal lineups as they vie for their second-ever NEC Championship after capturing the crown in 2014.
