Staten Island, NY - The Wagner men's basketball team concludes its two-game homestand as they welcome cross-borough rival, the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers to the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. Both teams are looking to bounce back after suffering defeats on Thursday evening. For Wagner, the Seahawks dropped a 72-67 decision against Saint Francis U at the Spiro Sports Center despite leading at halftime 34-29. The Terriers are looking to stop a seven-game skid, falling at the Pope Physical Education Center, 79-73, to defending league champions, Fairleigh Dickinson. In a case of déjà vu, the Green & White and the Terriers are meeting exactly a year to the day after Wagner defeated SFBK, 64-61, at the Spiro Sports Center. Saturday's contest is the fourth all-time meeting on January 28th with the Seahawks taking two of the previous three meetings.

Suits and Sneakers: The Wagner coaching staff is participating in the NABC Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers week to help support cancer research and awareness. Members of the coaching staff will be wearing sneakers with their suits in their games against Saint Francis U and St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday.
All-Time Series: Saturday afternoon marks the 92nd all-time meeting between the two schools with the head-to-head series favoring the Terriers at 50-41. Last year, the Seahawks swept both regular season matchups from St. Francis Brooklyn for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign
The Coaches: Wagner's
Bashir Mason, the 2015-16 Jim Phelan NEC Coach of the Year, is in his fifth season as the head coach of the Wagner Seahawks, owning a career record of 79-66. Mason is 2-5 all-time against the Terriers. St. Francis Brooklyn's Glenn Braica, who is in his seventh season, enters Saturday's game at Wagner with a record of 102-109 and is 67-48 in league play. Saturday's contest between Wagner and St. Francis Brooklyn also pits the last two NEC Coaches of the Year, as Mason won the 2015-16 honor following Braica, who captured his second NEC COTY in at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season.
Scouting The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers: Entering this afternoon's contest with Wagner, the Terriers are 4-18 overall and 2-7 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play after falling to defending league champions, the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights, 79-73. On the year, the Terriers, who feature just one senior, have three players averaging double-figures, led by freshman guard Rasheem Dunn, who is pouring in 13.7 ppg (11th in the NEC) while shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 69.7 percent from the free-throw line in just 29.0 minutes a contest. Staten Island native Glenn Sanabria, who missed the majority of 2015-16 due to injury, is netting 13.3 ppg (14th in the league) while making the most three-pointers on the season with 56. All-NEC Third Teamer a year ago and the lone senior, Yunus Hopkinson, is chipping in 11.9 ppg (22nd in the NEC) while dishing out 2.5 assists a contest. Overall, St. Francis Brooklyn is shooting 35.0 percent from the field, 28.8 percent from three-point range and 65.2 percent from the free-throw line.
At Its Core; Henson Within 23 Off 1,000 Career Points: Junior guard
Corey Henson (Upper Marlboro, MD/DeMatha Catholic) is closing in on becoming the 43rd member of the 1,000 career points club as he enters the Bryant contest with 977 career points.The last member to join the Wagner 1,000 point club was guard Marcus Burton ['14].
Home Cooking: Including the 2016-17 season, Wagner is 58-23 at home after finishing the 2015-16 campaign last season with a 13-4 mark at home.
Iron Mike: Senior guard
Michael Carey (Nassau, Bahamas/Lamar Consolidated [San Jacinto College]) is the lone member of the 2016-17 Seahawks to start in every game this season, playing in 19 straight games.
Bench Dominance: In Wagner's 94-42 victory over Division III member, Staten Island (12/22/16), 70 of the Seahawks' 94 points came from its bench, led by freshman guard
Connor Ferrell's game-high 20 points. On the year, Wagner's reserves have averaged 22.3 ppg while holding its opponents to just 17.5 a contest (424-333).
Milestone Alert: In addition to
Corey Henson's chase to become the 43rd member of the 1,000 Point Club, Thursday's contest against Saint Francis marked several milestones a couple of additional milestones for the junior guard. With his 6-of-9 shooting from beyond-the-arc, Henson has surpassed 150 career three-pointers, standing at 155 for his three-year career, ten away from tying former Seahawk Tony Rice ['96], who had 165 in his career. Carey Seeing 20/20: Michael Carey was the sixth player in NEC history with at least 22 boards in a game and one of seven NEC players in the last 20 years to finish with 20 points and 20 rebounds in a contest when he went for 21 points and 22 rebounds against defending league champions, Fairleigh Dickinson, back on January 5.

Mike Aaman (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan [University of Rhode Island]) denied five shots against Robert Morris in the 2016 Northeast Conference (NEC) quarterfinals (3/2/16). Sumbry is denying 1.32 shots a contest and has 25 rejections on the season, which is good for third in the NEC.
Double Trouble: The Seahawks have posted at least one double-double in ten of its 18 games this season.
Simply Mr. Double-Double: Versatile 6-5 guard
Michael Carey has notched 21 career double-doubles, the most recent coming in Wagner's 67-62 road victory over Sacred Heart (1/21/17) in which the 6-5 guard scored 22 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Since the 1997-98 season, Carey is just the sixth Seahawk to record double-digit double-doubles and only the fourth player in the program during this time to record 20 or more double-doubles for a career.
