Kingston, RI – The Wagner women's swimming and diving team won seven individual events and two relays to improve to 6-1 in dual meets on the year, as they defeated the University of Rhode Island, 164-134, on Saturday.

Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI / Hawaii Preparatory Academy), senior
Katja Claesson (Fullerton, CA / Troy High School), junior
Kirsty Hessing (Bloomington, IL / Normal Community) and freshman
Kelsey Eastman (Effort, PA / Pleasant Valley) started the day off with a first place finish, touching the wall in 1:46.33.
The Seahawks also took first in the 400 Free Relay, as Eastman, Hessing, junior
Maddie McNichol (Downingtown, PA / Henderson), and Nihipali finished in 3:35.66. Tri-captain McNichol rounded out her strong performance with a first place showing in the 1000 Free (10.39.68) and a second place in the 500 Free (5:13.39), an event in which teammate
Leahi Camacho (Kailua Kona, HI / Kealakene) took top honors (5:13.39), while freshman Kaitlyn Mulcahy completed the sweep in third place (5:17.78).
Nihipali continued her afternoon with first place finishes in the 100 Back (56.94s) and 200 Back (2:06.52), while Hessing won the 200 Free in 1:55.70. Camacho's second individual victory came in the 200 IM (2:12.58), while Claesson once again won the 100 Breast (1:06.34) and Eastman won the 100 Free (53.91).
The Seahawks return to action in two weeks, as they travel across the Verrazano Bridge to take part in the LIU Brooklyn Tri-Meet, in which they will compete against the host Blackbirds and also the Northeastern Huskies from January 27-28.
