Men’s Water Polo Falls To No. 13 Brown In Inaugural Game

Score Sheet

Providence, RI –
In the first game in program history, the Wagner men's water polo team dropped a 14-5 decision at No. 13 Brown on Saturday morning as part of the 2016 Bruno Classic.

The Bears took an early 5-0 lead before sophomore Devin O'Donnell (Pointe-Claire, Quebec/Selwyn/John Abbott College) recorded the program's first-ever goal with 25 seconds remaining in the first quarter, capitalizing on a man-up opportunity. The Canadian transfer was a major bright spot for the Seahawks as he would go on to score three more times in accounting for four of the Seahawks' five goals.

Trailing 9-1 at halftime, the Green & White won the first sprint of the second half before saving their best quarter for last as they outscored Brown 3-1 in the fourth. Freshman Matthew Miller (San Ramon, CA / California High) recorded his first collegiate career goal to close the deficit to 14-3 before O'Donnell rounded out the scoring, notching his fourth and fifth goals of the contest, with 4:52 and 3:20 left to play in fashioning the final score at 14-5.

The Seahawks return to the pool at 8:40 pm tonight when they face Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). For in-game updates, follow @WagnerGameday on Twitter.
