Lincroft, NJ - The Wagner men's cross country team kicked off the 2016 campaign with an impressive showing at the Monmouth University XC Kick-Off in Thompson Park, NJ on Saturday morning.
Out of the five Division I schools at the 6k race, Wagner (86) placed third. Host Monmouth (26) took home the team title, followed by Seton Hall (40). Rounding out the five Division I teams that competed were Lafayette (103) and St. Francis Brooklyn (121).Â
Individually, the Green & White were led by a pair of newcomers. Freshman
Liam Harris (Cork, Ireland/Kent School [CT]) took home second place honors, finishing with a time of 19:18.5, a full second behind Monmouth's Graham Huggins-Filozof, who took home top singles honors.Â
Fellow classmate
Jonathan Besselink (Kingston, Ontario/Holy Cross Catholic Secondary) placed tenth individually with a time of 19:49.2.
The Seahawks will next run at the Monmouth University Invitational on September 17 at Holmdel Park, NJ.Â
