Annapolis, MD – The Wagner men's water polo team lost to Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) rival Navy 13-7 in the Seahawks' final matchup of the weekend.
For the second time this weekend, the Seahawks were led offensively by junior driver
James Grady (Boca Raton, FL/Boca Raton), who netted three goals.
Navy took an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Seahawks countered with goals from junior utility
Ciaran Wolohan (Manly, Australia/St. Aloysius College/Golden West College) and freshman 2-meter
Tristan O'Connell (Boca Raton, FL/Saint Andrew's School) to end the period trailing by a 4-2 count.
The Blue & Gold's defense held Wagner scoreless in the second quarter as the Seahawks wouldn't score again until Grady drilled one in the back of the net with two minutes left in the third stanza.
Entering the final quarter behind 12-3, the Green & White outscored Navy 4-1. However, the late goals from Grady, Wolohan, and freshman driver
Reilly Dolan (Perkasie, PA / Pennridge), weren't enough to propel the Seahawks past Navy.
Wagner returns to the Spiro Sports Center next weekend when it hosts another round of MAWPC games. The Green & White will face Bucknell and Johns Hopkins on Saturday, October 1 at 12 pm and 5 pm, respectively. The early game against Bucknell will be available via live stream on NEC Front Row.
