Women's Tennis Blanked On The Road At Bryant On Sunday

Smithfield, RI - The Wagner women's tennis dropped its Northeast Conference (NEC) tilt at Bryant University, 7-0 on Sunday.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in league play while the Bulldogs even out its record at 7-7 and remain perfect in NEC contests as they now stand at 3-0.

The Bulldogs swept all three doubles matches to secure the first point of today's match.  The tandem of freshman Rina Baynes (Johns Creek, GA/Chattahoochee) and senior Jenna Harris (Fountain Hills, AZ/Fountain Hills) was edged in Flight No. 3 doubles action by the pairing of Stefanie Arroyo and Linnea Sjoberg, 6-3.

In No. 4 singles play, Baynes dropped the first set 6-2 before picking up a second set triumph, 6-2, forcing a third set. In the final set, Brianna Leonard picked up the win, 10-3.

The Seahawks will play its final home contest of the season on Monday, April 18, at 10:00 a.m. as Wagner welcomes Mount St. Mary's. 

The Seahawks will recognize their Senior Class tomorrow in Jenna Harris and Marina Rull Valvieso (Barcelona, Spain/IES Antony Cumella [Tarleton State]).
