Villanova, PA – The #18 Wagner (17-9) women's water polo squad defeated Siena (2-13) 17-5 and Villanova (10-12) 14-4 to secure two victories on the opening day of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.

Lily Doerfler (Annapolis, MD/ Broadneck),
Jess Lundgren (Queensland, Australia/ Mountain Creek), and
Megan Rodriguez (Danville, CA/ San Ramon Valley) each found the back of the net. Lundgren and Rodriguez tallied twice in the first quarter with Doerfler firing home one strike. Sophomore
Kimberly Watson (Pointe-Claire, Quebec/ John Rennie) entered the scoring column in the first quarter as well.
The Green & White would extend their run in the second quarter with more goals. Sophomore
Elise Begg (Newbury, CA/ Newbury Park) opened scoring in the second quarter as she hit home on assist from fellow sophomore
Lacey Anderson (Thousand Oaks, CA/ Westlake). Watson and Rodriguez each scored a goal apiece in the second as Lundgren struck home twice. The Saints tallied seconds before halftime to bring the score to 11-1 at the break.
Doerfler connected for two more scores in the third quarter to give her a hat trick for the game. Freshmen
Natalie Kayton (Agoura, CA/ Agoura) and
Erica Hardy each tallied in the second half as Watson added her third of the game in the fourth. The Saints would tack four goals in the second half as the final score read 17-5 in favor of the Seahawks.

Anna Ward (Grayslake, IL/ Mundelein) each saw action with Riddle recording four saves and Ward tallying one block.
Wagner 14 Villanova 4 (Score Sheet)Wagner's offensive continuity continued into the second game of the day with the Seahawks totaling eight goals in the first half of action against the Wildcats.
The Seahawks added four goals in the first quarter and duplicated that effort in the second quarter with Doerfler leading the way as she registered a hat trick in the opening half. Watson tallied twice in the first half with Lundgren, Rodriguez and Begg each adding a goal apiece. The Seahawks defense was stifling and held the Wildcats in check throughout the contest. The Green & White entered halftime leading 8-0.
The Seahawks would outscore Villanova 6-4 in the second half to bring the final score to 14-4 to give Wagner their 17th victory of the season. Lundgren scored twice in the second half to net a hat trick while Doerfler added her fourth goal of the game. Anderson, Watson and freshman
Erica Hardy (Montreal, Quebec/ St. Thomas) al found the back of the net during second half action.
Riddle was a standout in net as she totaled 11 saves to hold down the Seahawk defense.
Wagner is back in action April 2 against St. Francis Brooklyn.
