Easton, PA – Junior leftfielder Hana Gilbert (Valley Center, CA/Valley Center) went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI's to lead the Wagner College softball team to a 4-2 win over Lafayette College in game one of today's doubleheader before the Leopards rallied for a 5-1 win in the nightcap.

Today's split against Lafayette gives Wagner an 8-10 record on the season while the Leopards' game-two win improves their season mark to 5-8.

Game One Recap: Wagner 4 Lafayette 2

Junior McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL/Lakewood Ranch) picked up the victory in the circle, improving her record to 5-3 in tossing her fifth complete game. The Florida native went the distance, allowing two runs, while striking out three batters and scattering six hits.

Lafayette cracked the scoreboard first, taking a 1-0 first-inning lead. Wagner responded right away, tallying two runs in the second inning to gain a 2-1 edge.

After freshman catcher Jessica Carlucci (Manalapan, NJ/Saint John Vianney) walked, Taylor Beeson (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain) pinch ran for her, and junior third baseman Aerika High (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) singled to right field to put Beeson on third. Freshman second baseman Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ/The Lawrenceville School) then singled to score Beeson before sophomore Laura Petri (Warminster, PA/William Tenant), the designated player, lofted a sacrifice fly to left field to score High.

The Leopards tied it up in the fourth inning off of a Brooke Wensel solo home run over the left field fence.

Wagner picked up its eventual game winning two runs in the top of the sixth inning on a Gilbert two-RBI double to right center, scoring freshman shortstop Erica Krumbine (Freehold, NJ/Saint John Vianney) and junior centerfielder Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West), who had walked and reached on a fielder's choice respectively.

Prihoda finished the contest 2-for-4 with a double. Other Seahawk hits came from Tredway, who doubled, and freshman right fielder Lauren Serrato (Litchfield, AZ/Verrado).

Game Two Recap: Lafayette 5 Wagner 1

In game two, Wagner gained control early, scoring a run in the top of the second inning off of a Krumbine RBI single to left center to score senior catcher Brenda Bott (Fountain Valley, CA/Fountain Valley), who had doubled to left center.

Lafayette took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning tallying two runs followed by another two in the bottom of the fifth. The Leopards then added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the 5-1 victory over the Seahawks.

Sophomore pitcher Morgan Brown (Buckeye, AZ/Verrado) took the loss (3-6), despite striking out three batters in six innings pitched.

Carlucci was 1-for-3 with a single to round out the three Wagner hits of the contest.
