Staten Island, NY
– Following a nine-day hiatus, the Wagner women's lacrosse team swings back into action on Monday, March 14 when the Seahawks host Bucknell in a game that was originally scheduled to be the season opener for both teams back on February 12.

This game was postponed due to freezing temperatures. Instead of being the season opener for both teams, the Seahawks will bring a 1-4 record into the contest while the Bison are 4-2 on the season.

Last time out, the Seahawks earned their first victory of the season, and of the Katie Rowan era, when the Green & White earned an 11-9 come-from-behind home win over Atlantic 10 member Saint Joseph's on March 5. Senior midfielder Shea Gegan (Belmar, NJ/Manasquan) keyed the Wagner win with a six-goal effort en route to earning NEC Player of the Week honors.

This will be the 11th all-time meeting between the Northeast Conference and Patriot League schools with Bucknell holding a 7-3 lead in a series that dates back to 2002. In the most recent matchup between teams, in last season's opener, as the Bison earned a 9-7 win in Lewisburg, PA on February 9, 2015.

Gegan, Wagner's all-time career leader in caused turnovers and ground balls, leads the team in both of these categories with eight in each, in addition to pacing the Seahawks in goals (12), assists (5), points and draw controls (11). In goal, senior Katie Ferraro (Owings Mill, MD/McDonogh) boasts a goals against average of 10.00, with a save percentage of .435 on 27 saves.

Bucknell, coming off of a 21-12 rout of NEC member Saint Francis U on Saturday, has already doubled last year's win total as the Bison are off to their best start since 2009. Attacker Eve Lukowski has 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points, and her 5.5 points per game average is tied for fourth nationally while Christina Manis (11g-17a-28pts) ranks fourth in the country in assists per game (2.8) and 12th nationally in points per game at 4.8.
