Wagner 8, Indiana 11 (Score Sheet)The Seahawks tallied the first goal of the game as sophomore attacker
Lacey Anderson (Thousand Oaks, CA/Westlake) found the back of the net less than a minute into the contest. The Hoosiers responded with back-to-back scores from Kelly Matthews and Karrie Kozokar.
Trailing late in the quarter, fellow classmate
Kimberly Watson (Pointe-Claire, Quebec/John Rennie) knotted the game at two, scoring with just 18 seconds left in the period. Defense prevailed in the second quarter as both squads were scoreless, sending the teams to the halftime break tied at two. When play resumed, Indiana outscored Wagner, 6-3, in the third period to take an 8-5 lead. Matthews scored three times in the stanza, giving her four goals for the game.
Watson and Anderson provided the offense for the Green & White, recording their second goals of the match as Watson's tally came off a counter strike. With 1:20 left in the third quarter, senior center
Jess Lundgren (Queensland, Australia/Mountain Creek) rattled the cage for her first goal, trimming the Hoosiers' lead to just 8-6.
Lundgren struck again for her second goal of the day in the fourth quarter, as did teammate
Lily Doerfler (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) who ripped in two but it wasn't enough as Indiana also had three goals to preserve the 11-8 victory.
Wagner 5 v. Hartwick 13 (Score Sheet)The scoring opportunities were plentiful for each squad in the opening stanza as the teams combined for a total of eight goals. Wagner kicked of the scoring frenzy with a tally from Doerfler off a slick pass from senior
Megan Rodriguez (Danville, CA/ San Ramon Valley). Hartwick would score twice in a row before the Rodriguez to Doerfler connection found the net again with 3:17 remaining in the first period.
The Hawks and Seahawks traded goals with Rodriguez hitting home on a man-up opportunity and Lundgren slashing to the net for a score as time expired in the first. After one quarter the game was deadlocked at 4-4. Offense from each side slowed in the second as Hartwick would tally the only two scores of the second quarter to take a 6-4 advantage into the locker room.
The Seahawks couldn't seem to find their offensive rhythm in the second half of play. The Green & White tallied one score as freshman
Abby Irving (Brentwood Bay, B.C./ Canadian Sport School/ Stelly's) found the back of the net late in the third quarter. The Seahawks would fall to Hartwick by a final score of 13-5.
