Seahawks Conclude Play At Fordham University Quad Tournament; Day Two Canceled Due To Weather

Fordham University Doubles Results

Bronx, NY - The Wagner men's tennis team was one of four schools to compete at the Fordham University Quad Tournament, scheduled to be played on October 8 and October 9.

Due to weather, day two of the tournament (October 9) has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

Singles "A" Recap
Four Seahawks took part in the Singles "A" portion of the tournament, which included the reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Month sophomore Anatoliy Lashkul (Kiev, Ukraine/High School #78). Joining Lashkul was classmates Ilya Kneppelhout (Woubrugge, Netherlands/Scala College Secondary School), Dale Sandy (Durban, South Africa/Kersney College Secondary School) and Eric Poland (Fort Meyers, FL/Bishop Verot).

Lashkul earned a bye to the quarterfinal round while Kneppelhout was victorious over Andres Rojas of Saint Peter's, 7-5; 6-2. Sandy was edged by Hofstra's Corentin Haener, 6-2; 6-3 wjile Poland was edged by Fordham's Victor Li, 6-4; 7-5. 

Doubles "A" Recap
Lashkul and Sandy were the top overall pairing in the Doubles "A" bracket. Freshman Hans Ohrner (Margate, FL/Coral Springs Christian Academy) and junior Allen Wang (Clovis, CA/Buchanan) fell to the Victor LI and Mauritzson, 6-3 in the round of 16. 

Sophomore Eric Poland (Fort Meyers, FL/Bishop Verot) and newcomer Siddharth Anand (New Delhi, India/Modern School Barakhamba Road) were defeated by Rojas and Douglas Nover of Saint Peter's. 

Kneppelhout and junior Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA/Loyola College Prep) were victorious for Wagner as the duo earned a 6-3 victory over Cameron Posillico and Harris Durkovic of Fordham. 

Kneppelhout/Boyd reached the semifinals after posting a gritty 7-5 win over Allen Thornes and Jeremy Chung of Fordham.  Before weather played a factor, the Seahawk duo was scheduled to take on Niko Vulinovich and Haener of Hofstra. 

Doubles "A" Consolation Recap
Ohrner/Wang along with Poland/Anand reached the semifinals of the consolation bracket. Ohrner/Wang edged Cuong Lam and Gabe Russotto of Saint Peter's, 6-4, while Poland/Anand picked up a 6-3 victory over Gabriel Mashaal/Joseph Kavaloski of Fordham. Ohrner/Wang was pitted to take on Jonathan Paredes/Justin Sinprasith (Saint Peter's) in one semifinal while Polan/Anand was matched up against Posillico/Durkovic (Fordham) in the other.  

Singles "B" Recap
Boyd earned a bye in the first round of the "B" singles bracket while Anand was triumphant over Durkovic, 6-2; 6-0.  Wang made it three straight Seahawk wins as he defeated Sinprasith, 6-0; 6-1. 

The Green & White will play its final dual match of the fall season as they hit the road for a non-conference tilt in Fairfield, CT against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) members, Fairfield, on October 15.
