Staten Island, NY -  The Wagner men's basketball welcomes the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers to Staten Island in a rare 9:00 pm tip-off on Thursday as these local rivals will be meeting for the second time in a week's span in a game that will be aired live and seen locally on MSG+.

Last Thursday, the Seahawks earned their first win over the Terriers since January 19, 2012, posting an 83-59 victory in Brooklyn Heights at the Pope Physical Education Center.

Wagner (12-7; 5-3 NEC) dropped its second home contest of the season last time out, falling to Sacred Heart, 67-58, on Sunday afternoon, despite a game-high 17 points from sophomore guard Corey Henson (Upper Marlboro, MD/DeMatha Catholic). Junior guard Michael Carey (Nassau, Bahamas/Lamar Consolidated [San Jacinto College]) posted his fourth straight double-double, and eighth on the season, finishing with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

St. Francis Brooklyn (8-13; 4-4 NEC), meanwhile, weathered Saturday's blizzard and made the short commute to LIU Brooklyn, bouncing back from the loss to the Seahawks by earning a 64-49 victory in the 41st edition of the "Battle of Brooklyn."

INSIDE THE SERIES:
  • Thursday's contest is the 94th all-time between the schools with St. Francis Brooklyn holding a 53-40 edge in the head-to-head series.
  • This series is one of the longest-running in Wagner's history, as the two New York schools, separated by the Verrazano Bridge and a mere 30-minute car ride on I-278 (without traffic), first started playing basketball against one another on January 12, 1929, when the Terriers defeated Wagner, 37-14.
  • On January 21, 2016, the Seahawks had three players in double figures, led by sophomore guard Corey Henson's (Upper Marlboro, MD/DeMatha Catholic) game and career-high 25 points, as Wagner earned an impressive 83-59 win St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers.
