Staten Island, NY – The Wagner men's cross country team will look to return to the top half of the Northeast Conference (NEC) in 2015.
The Seahawks finished fourth at the 2014 NEC Championships led by All-NEC performers
Jacob Malakoff and
James Naglieri, who have graduated.
The Green & White were slated fourth by the coaches in the conferences preseason poll.
This year's squad returns five letterwinners led by sophomore
Joseph Abbatiello (Fredericksburg, MD/ Stafford). Abbatiello was the team's number three runner for the majority of last season.
Abbatiello put together an excellent rookie campaign which culminated in a 26th place finish at the 8K NEC Championship with a time of 27:37.17.
Junior
Darius Moulton (Brisbane, Australia/ St. Joseph Gregorys Terrace), Sophomore
Jack Schnorbus (Haymarket, VA/ Battlefield), and Sophomore
Tre' Williams (Philadelphia, PA/ William Penn Charter) will likely all vie for the number two position.
The Seahawks also return Sophomore
Quincy Rasin (New Bern, NC/ New Bern) while bringing in talented freshmen
Matthew Whalen (Smithtown, NY/ Smithtown East) and
Dan Ziebarth (Beaver Dam, WI/ Beaver Dam).
The Seahawks open their season on Saturday, September 5th at the Monmouth Quad.
