Sal Alberti Memorial Golf Classic was held at the prestigious Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck, NJ and as a result of this year's event, which for the first time included an online auction, $30,000 was raised in support of Wagner College student-athlete scholarships.
Two Wagner graduates and long-time supporters of Seahawk Athletics,
George D. Gates, '74 and
Fred C. Williamson, '64, the latter of whom will be among the
six members of the 2015 Hall of Class to be enshrined on Saturday, have now been on hand for all 26 Sal Alberti Memorial Golf Classics, which have combined to raise more than $1 million.
The online auction provided alumni, family and friends, from across the globe, the ability to bid on terrific and exclusive items with all proceeds benefitting Wagner College student-athletes.
Among the many attractive items up that were up for auction included
10 suite tickets to a Brooklyn Nets Game, center-ice tickets to see the defending
Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, as well great golfing experiences at premium courses including
Baltusrol Golf Club,
Ridgewood Country Club,
North Jersey Country Club,
Jonathan's Landing Golf Club,
Copper Hill Country Club and the
Tournament Players Club in Tampa, FL.
Other items included tickets in the Delta 360 Suite at the Yankees' game on September 25, VIP tickets to a taping of Late Night with Seth Myers, and tickets to a performance from the Roundabout Theatre Company's 2015-16 production season.
A blend of alumni, former and current Board of Trustee members and supporters of Wagner Athletics, took to the links which was held at Trump National for the fourth consecutive year.
A 1957 Wagner College graduate, Alberti served Seahawk athletics in a variety of capacities for nearly 40 years and was inducted into the Seahawk Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. A three-year football letterwinner and the team's leading rusher in 1954, he remained at Wagner as an assistant football coach for six seasons and an assistant trainer for two years.
Alberti then entered private business, rising to the level of CEO and President of American Pipes and Plastics, and was a member of the Wagner College Board of Trustees.
