She was a Metro Conference (NYS Downstate) champion and placed in the top five of the ECAC/EAIAW Division I Championship in each of her four years. Clarke began her collegiate running career leading the Seahawks to an undefeated 8-0 record season. The 1985-86 cross country MVP and team captain capped her cross country reign holding Wagner College course records at five different venues – Clove Lakes Park, King's College, New York Tech, Sunken Meadow, and Van Cortlandt Park. "She was an outstanding competitor who quickly brought the new program to an even higher level. At the time, Wagner was known as one of the better distance programs in the region in no small part because of Amber's performances and contribution to the team."

"Frantz Pierre-Louis was as talented a big man that has ever played at Wagner College and for that matter, the Northeast Conference," said his head coach Tim Capstraw. "His size, athleticism, and skill were a tremendous combination. Frantz was a late bloomer and it's little wonder that he then went on to enjoy many years of professional basketball following his career at Wagner."
Jimmy Nix '80, Football
Jimmy Nix was a four-year standout in the Seahawk defensive backfield from 1976-79, capping his career by earning Little College All-American honors from the
Associated Press in 1979 when he set the Wagner single-season record for 10 interceptions. On October 20, 1979, he recorded a school-record three interceptions to help preserve a 19-14 victory at Seton Hall His 18 career interceptions still rank No. 2 on the all-time list. A top safety, equally adept against the pass and the run, Nix played a relentless, aggressive, and productive brand of football while playing through a series of leg injuries. As a senior in 1979, the Ridgewood, NJ native served as a co-captain for the Seahawks.
"As the head coach, when establishing our program for its future success, we needed the building blocks of tough, hard-nosed, selfless players who put team goals ahead of all else. Jim Nix was the epitome of one of those young men," said his head coach Bill Russo. "The wonderful bonus was he was a singular talent in our secondary, with a knack of playing at a high level and motivating those around him to become better by his example."
"Jim always projected a positive image of initiative, competence, hard work and integrity," said former Seahawk secondary coach Keith Comeforo. "He practiced hard and played the game harder. He was the player that you always wanted all of your athletes to be. He acted the same in victory and in defeat, held his head high with dignity. Always dependable, Jim seemed to always make a play when our team needed it most."
Nia Ryan '00, Women's Basketball
Nia Ryan was a dominant 5-10 forward for the Seahawks, who ranks No. 4 on the Wagner all-time scoring list with 1,565 career points and is No. 8 in all-time rebounds with 815. Ryan Led the Seahawks to NEC Tournament semifinal appearances in each of her first three seasons on Grymes Hill before guiding Wagner to the 1999-2000 NEC Championship game. In her junior and senior seasons combined, she led the Seahawks in scoring in 34 of 58 games played. In an NEC quarterfinal win over Sacred Heart on March 3, 2000, Ryan went for a career-high 28 points. During one stretch late in her junior season of 1998-99, Ryan tallied 20 or more points in nine consecutive games. A member of the NEC All-Tournament team as both a junior and a senior, Ryan served as captain of the 1999-2000 Seahawks as a senior.
"During my time at as an assistant and head coach at Wagner, Nia was a tremendous all-around player," said Tara Gallagher. "She was extremely athletic, who consistently beat her opponent off the dribble with a quick first step while also stepping out to hit three-pointers. She had the ability to score from anywhere on the floor. During her sophomore, junior and senior years, she led us in virtually every category, despite facing constant double teams."
Chris West '89, Football
Chris West was a disruptive defensive force at linebacker, secondary, and on special teams from 1985-88, excelling for the Seahawks during one of the greatest eras in program history. In the 19-3 victory over Dayton in the 1987 national title game, West delivered a dominant performance, amassing 12 tackles, nine of which came in the pivotal second half. Predominantly an outside linebacker in the Seahawks' 4-4 defensive scheme during his career, the 6-2, 205-pound West was stout at setting the edge against the run and flexible enough to be effective against the pass and in blitzing situations. The Green & White were 9-2 in both 1985 and 1986, claiming ECAC South titles in each of those seasons, before embarking on the magical 13-1 campaign in 1987. As a senior in 1988, the Albany, NY native helped the Seahawks to an 8-2 record and a second consecutive NCAA Playoff appearance.
"Chris was arguably the fastest and most athletic man on the team during that time period which allowed him to play in many different parts of every game during his four years," said his former defensive coordinator Mike Walsh. "Extremely intelligent, great work ethic, excellent leader, very durable and always understood his responsibility – we could count on Chris being where he was supposed to be 100 percent of the time."
