Women's Soccer Resumes Play At Saint Peter's Wednesday

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, August 26, as they travel to Jersey City, NJ to face Saint Peter's University at 3:00 pm.
 
Scouting the Seahawks:
Team Record: 0-2
 
Last Time Out:
Wagner will look for its first win of the season after opening the 2015 campaign at the University of Maine Tournament, held in Orono, ME last weekend. The Green & White dropped both weekend contests, a 2-0 setback against Fordham on Friday (Aug. 21) and a tough 2-1 defeat against Fairfield on Sunday (Aug. 23).  

Sophomore Jackie Otake (Portland, CT/Portland) recorded her first collegiate goal while scoring the Seahawks first marker of the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Flaherty (Southfield, MI/Wylie Groves) and junior goalkeeper Katelyn Murphy (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen) each played a full 90 minutes with Murphy recording eight saves and Flaherty tallying seven, both are career-highs.

Last Time Out:
Saint Peter's opened its 2015 season with a 5-1 loss at NJIT on Friday, August 21. The lone Saint Peter's goal came from freshman Michelle Laz, in the 47th minute that evened the contest to 1-1. For Laz, it was her first collegiate goal. Over the final 28 minutes of the game, the Highlanders scored four times to preserve the victory. NJIT outshot the Peacocks, 11-6. Netminder Taylor McLean recorded three stops in the game.  
 
Wagner vs. Saint Peter's History
Wednesday marks the 18th meeting all-time between the two schools, dating back to the 1993 season. Wagner has won the last four meetings, including last season's contest at Hameline Field, in which the Seahawks scored twice in the second half off the foot of senior Samantha Jensen (Ocean Gate, NJ/Central Regional) back on August 29, 2014.
