Staten Island, NY- The Wagner College men's tennis team gears up for their championship season on Friday as they take on nationally ranked, St. John's, in Queens. After taking the Northeast Conference by storm in posting a perfect 7-0 record this fall, second-year head coach
Daniel Kreyman will look to guide a young Seahawk squad through a very tough and rigorous spring slate, which includes matches against the Red Storm, Colgate, Temple and Big Ten member, Penn State.
Kreyman added two newcomers,
Juan Alanis (Mexico City, Mexico/K12 International Academy) and
Jakob Mostyn-Kolb (Melbourne, FL/Melbourne), to further bolster a young Seahawk core, led by freshman
Michal Rolski (Kielczow, Poland/Oak Meadow (VT)), who won the "A" Flight singles tournament event at the 2014 Quinnipiac University Invitational.
"We are really excited to bring Juan and Jakob into our program," said Kreyman. "Adding Alanis and Mostyn-Kolb makes us stronger heading into the spring season and vying for a Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship, which is the ultimate goal."
Coach Kreyman sat down recently with WagnerAthletics.com to discuss his team, the preparation for the upcoming spring season and how his two team captains, Rolski and fellow newcomer,
Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA/Loyola College Prep) have stepped up to become leaders of this young Wagner squad.
