Riverdale, NY – Freshman midfielder
Lauren Ednie (Verona, NJ/Verona) tallied three goals, sophomore midfielder
Olivia Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) supplied two goals and one assist and seven different players found the net as the Wagner women's lacrosse team earned its first win of the season, a 10-6 decision at Manhattan College this afternoon.
With the win, the Seahawks improve to 1-2 on the season while the Jaspers fall to 1-1.
Scoring one goal apiece for the Green & White were junior midfielder
Shea Gegan (Belmar, NJ/Manasquan), who added two assists, along with junior midfielder
Gretchen Fay (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan), junior attackers
Stephanie Peterson (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township), who chipped in with one assist,
Taylor Pastore (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker), and senior midfielder
Jessica Mills (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township, NJ).
In goal, junior
Katie Ferraro (Owings Mill, MD/McDonogh) came up with nine saves in registering the win.
Wagner, which never trailed in the game, held a 28-18 edge in shots, led in ground balls 25-23 and won the draw control battle by a 10-8 margin. The Seahawks were successful on 3-of-10 free-position shots while the Jaspers were 3-of-9.
The Seahawks are next in action on Wednesday, February 25 when they travel to Easton, PA to meet the Lafayette Leopards in a 7:35 p.m. start.
