Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's soccer team hosts its final home match of the regular season, welcoming the Sacred Heart University Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30 at Hameline Field. Three departing players- Johanna Konrad (Volkach, Germany/LSH), Samantha Jensen (Ocean Gate, NJ/Central Regional), and Victoria Roda (Staten Island, NY/Petrides) will be honored prior to the start of the match as part of the Senior Night festivities.

Scouting the Seahawks
Behind back-to-back shutouts last weekend against Saint Francis U. and Mount St. Mary's on the road, the Seahawks (4-11-1, 3-3 NEC) kept their postseason chances alive, as they currently are slotted fifth in the Northeast Conference (NEC) standings with nine points, just one behind Bryant for the fourth and final playoff spot.

A Wagner victory in the home finale against the Pioneers, combined with a Bryant loss against Central Connecticut will catapult the Green & White to the fourth spot based on total points as the Seahawks would hold a one-point lead over the Bulldogs heading into the regular season finale on Sunday.

Spearheading the resurgence for the Seahawks is reigning NEC Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, freshman goalkeeper, Katie Viscardi (Hazlet, NJ/Mater Dei Prep). The first-year Seahawk posted a pair of clean sheets as Wagner reached the .500 mark in conference play. The Garden State product notched her first collegiate shutout by turning away eight shots, five of which came in the second half during Friday's 2-0 home victory over the Red Flash. On Sunday, Viscardi was stellar between the pipes, adding six more saves en route to a pivotal 1-0 road victory against the Mountaineers.

Wagner Honors Its Three Seniors

Johanna Konrad

Appearing in 65 career collegiate matches while earning the start in 46 of those matches, Konrad has been a key player for reigning NEC Coach of the Year Mike Minielli. The Volkach, Germany native enjoyed a sensational 2014 campaign, in which she scored seven of her 12 career goals en route to being named to the 2014 All-NEC Second Team. This year, she has tallied two goals and an assist.

Samantha Jensen
An Ocean Gate, NJ native, Jensen enters Friday with 55 career games played while starting 23 times. The fourth-year Seahawk forward has found the back of the net 13 times for her career, nine of which came in her sophomore season which led her to garner All-NEC First Team honors, the first Wagner player to do since 2004.

Victoria Roda
A 5-9 defenseman and former Petrides high school standout, Roda came back home to Staten Island after spending her first two seasons at Saint Leo University. As a member of the Seahawks, her defensive prowess helped anchor the Seahawks to one of the top defensive teams a season ago.

Scouting the Pioneers
Friday marks the end of the regular season for the Pioneers (4-12-0; 1-6-0 NEC) as they will look to stop a two-game skid to conclude their season. Despite controlling the tempo of the contest, the Pioneers allowed the eventual game-winner in the 78th minute against conference member LIU Brooklyn last Friday in their home finale. Sacred Heart came close to tying the match in the 85th minute, but a foul in the 18-yard box waved off the potential game-tying marker. On the season, Dana Cosmedy is the team leader in goals (7) and points (15). Teammate Lindsay Corallo has five assists to go along with three goals this season for Sacred Heart. In goal, Talia Schwartz has seen the bulk of the action, stopping 74 shots, which is good for sixth in the conference while recording two shutouts on the season.

Wagner vs. Sacred Heart Series
These two schools will be meeting for the 17th time, with Sacred Heart holding a 13-2-1 edge in the head-to-head matchup. Wagner has taken the last two meetings as they look for their third straight victory over the pioneers. Sacred Heart joined the NEC back in 1999 for women's soccer.

Coming Up
The 2015 Northeast Conference regular season draws to an end as the Seahawks head to New Britain, CT on Sunday, November 1 as they take on defending NEC champion, Central Connecticut. Kickoff is slated for 11:00 a.m. and will be streamed live on NEC Front Row.
