Water Polo Falls To #9 Indiana 13-5

Bloomington, IN – The Wagner water polo team fell to the ninth ranked Indiana Hoosiers 13-5, in a rematch of last year's NCAA Play-In game

Indiana held the lead throughout the contest as they jumped out to an early 4-2 advantage after one quarter. Senior attacker Jessica Burdge (Stockton, CA/ St. Mary's) and junior center Jess Lundgren (Queensland, Australia/ Mountain Creek) continued their scoring ways from yesterday's 9-5 win over Marist, as each netted a goal in the first quarter.

The second quarter began with Burdge and Lundgren each tossing in another goal, giving them four and six goals respectively on the season. Senior co-captain Rachel Burns (Auckland, New Zealand/ Diocesan) added her first of the contest as the Seahawks trailed 8-5 at halftime, after a very competitive first half of action.

The Green & White would fail to add to the scoring column again on the day as the Hoosiers rallied off five straight goals between the third and fourth quarters to claim victory.

The Seahawks finish the Indiana Invitational 1-1, as they now prepare for the Princeton Invite which begins February 7. The Green & White will compete against the likes of Harvard, Brown and Club Aquatique Water-Polo Montreal in their second tournament of the 2015 season.
