Staten Island, NY - Wagner picked up its second win of the day in dominating 7-0 fashion against La Salle in non-conference action at the Wagner Tennis Courts. The Seahawks improve to a perfect 4-0 while the Explorers fall to 1-2.
The Green & White's four victories are the most in over a decade while posting its third 7-0 win of the young season.
Showing no ill effects of today's earlier match, Wagner easily won all three doubles matches to secure the first point. Freshmen
Michal Rolski (Kielczow, Poland / Oak Meadow (VT)) and
Lee-Shawn Stein (Edmond, OK / Epic Charter School) started out with an easy 6-0 win at No. 2 for the second-straight match before freshmen
Ryan Khan (Weston, FL / University School) and
Allen Wang (Clovis, CA / Buchanan) gutted out a 6-3 victory at No. 1. Sophomore
Sam Flaxman (Avon, CT / Avon) and freshman
Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA / Loyola College Prep) capped doubles play with a 6-4 win at No. 3.
Boyd opened singles play with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 3 before Wang picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4. Khan clinched the match with 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 2. Rolski notched the win at first singles by a 6-3, 7-6 (4) count while Stein (6-1, 7-5) and Flaxman (6-4, 7-6 (5) capped the match with victories at No. 6 and No. 5, respectively.
Wagner will look to make it five in a row to start the season when Saint Peter's ascends on Grymes Hill on Sunday, September 28 with first serve slated for 1:00 pm.
