Megan Fritz (Cape Coral, FL / Mariner) before Atlantic 10 member Rhode Island answered with three unanswered goals, including a Nicole Brennan penalty kick with just 1:41 remaining in regulation, as Rhode Island posted a 3-2 win on Friday night.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 3-4-1 on the season while the Rams improve to 7-1-1.
Fritz headed in the first goal of the game off of a well-placed entry feed from junior defender
Victoria Roda (Staten Island, NY / Petrides / Saint Leo's) in the 20th minute. Fritz scored again in the 34th minute when she found the top right corner of the net after receiving a pass from junior midfielder
Siara Kolpon (Wayne, NJ / Wayne Hills).
Brennan cut the deficit in half with a goal at the 34:39 mark. Nardella then knotted the score at 2-2 in the 42
nd minute with a header off of a corner kick, tying the game at 2-2 heading into halftime. The score remained 2-2 until the 88
th minute when Brennan converted what proved to be the game-winning penalty kick.
Goalkeeper
Katie Marcy (Bellmore, NY / John F. Kennedy) made five saves as 17 Seahawks saw action in the contest.
The Green & White were out-shot by Rhode Island by a 20-8 count.
Wagner returns to action on Sunday, September 21 when the Seahawks travel to Drexel to meet the Dragons in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
