West Long Branch, NJ - Monmouth jumped out to an 8-0 halftime lead en route to a 13-4 victory over Wagner in women's lacrosse action today.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 2-3 on the season while Monmouth moves to 1-3.
After an 11-day break between games, Wagner swings back into action on Wednesday, March 17 when the Seahawks meet Stetson in a 7:00 pm contest on the Hatters' DeLand, Florida campus in the first of two games the Green & White will play in the Sunshine state during Spring Break.
Following the Stetson game, Wagner will make the 90-minute drive North, along Florida's East Coast, to meet Jacksonville on Wednesday, March 19. First draw between the Seahawks and Dolphins is set for 1:00 pm.
Monmouth was paced by a trio of players who recorded hat tricks this afternoon in Stephanie Anderson, Danielle Rakowitz and Allison Stathius. Katie Donahoe earned the win in goal for the Hawks, recording 12 saves while playing the game's first 53:30.

Statistically, the game was much closer than the final score might indicate. The Seahawks owned a 23-21 advantage in ground balls, Monmouth held a 30-25 edge in shots, while the teams each won nine draw controls.

Shannon Sweeney (Madison, NJ/Madison) went the distance in goal for Wagner, finishing with 10 saves.
