#7 Princeton Tops Wagner, 9-4

Box Score

Princeton, NJ
- After a slow start, a second half surge would not be enough for Wagner, as the Seahawks fell to Princeton, 9-4. With the loss, Wagner falls to 1-4 on the season.

The Tigers got one goal past freshman Emily Riddle (Edmonton, Alberta / Dr. E.P. Scarlett) in the first quarter, as the Seahawks were held scoreless to the end the period down 1-0.

Trailing 3-0 in the second, junior Rachel Burns (Auckland, New Zealand / Diocesan) was able to find sophomore Jess Lundgren (Queensland, Australia / Mountain Creek) for the long Wagner goal of the first half. Princeton scored twice more after the Lundgren goal, going into the half leading the Green and White 5-1.

In the third quarter, Wagner was again unable to find the net while Princeton did twice do end the period 7-1. Burns and sophomore Megan Rodriguez (Danville, CA / San Ramon Valley) scored two straight goals in the fourth quarter, while sophomore Lily Doerfler (Annapolis, MD / Broadneck) added another to make the score 8-4. The Tigers found the net once more with 1:04 left to play, making the final tally 9-4.

Riddle was a force in the net, stopping 11 of 20 shots on the game, but it would not be enough for Wagner. The Seahawks will face George Washington at 2:00 pm in the second game of the Princeton Invitational.
