Day 1 ResultsDay 2 ResultsHamden, CT - Freshman
Michal Rolski (Kielczow, Poland / Oak Meadow, VT) won the "A" Flight singles tournament event at the Quinnipiac University Invitational this weekend.
Rolski was able to beat Farleigh Dickinson senior Arvis Berzins, the three-time Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year, by a count of 6-3, 4-1 (Retired). Berzins has complied a career mark of 51-26 playing out of the number one spot for FDU while also having the honor of being the first NEC men's tennis competitor to win a set at the NCAA Tournament, making Rolski's victory all the more impressive. He then took the momentum of that tremendous victory to propel him to victory in his finals matchup with Quinnipiac's freshman Kei Ezaka, by a count of 3-6, 6-1, 10-4. Throughout the tournament Rolski showed tremendous determination and skill on the courts. He seemed anything but a freshman as he battled some of the best players in the region. This victory only adds to the teams tremendous start.
Freshmen
Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA / Loyola College Pre) was able to bounce back to win the "B" CONS single event at the tournament after a first round exit. Boyd defeated Harrison Max (So.) in the Semi-Final and Daniel Rombola (Fr.) in the Final both of whom hail from the University of Hartford.
"I'm really proud of Rolski. He has established that he is not just one of the best players in the NEC but also in the region, " said head coach
Danny Kreyman. "Charlton bounced back nicely to win four matches today. Him and Sam played some of their best doubles of the season today."
Boyd and sophomore
Sam Flaxman (Avon, CT / Avon) played impressive doubles, advancing to the semi-final of the "A" Flight competition before play was stopped. Inclement weather on Saturday forced the schedule to be re-arranged, which halted the finish of the doubles matches Sunday. The pair defeated Villanova's Chris Seitz (Jr.) and Bradley Noyes (So.) by a count of 6-2 before gathering a 6-4 victory against Quinnipiac's Eric Ambrizio (Sr.) and Julian Rozenstein (Fr.).
