GILBERT, Ariz. — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2026 Division I Men's Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams on Monday. Nine Wagner men's tennis players were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and the team earned a spot on the All-Academic list as well.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a Seahawk needed to finish the academic year with a GPA of a least 3.5. Graduate students
Tom Lamers (3.95) and
Gabriele Zugarelli (3.50), seniors
Pablo Rodriguez Gonzalez (3.51),
Kunsh Moolchandani (3.62) and
Sebastian Dobson (4.00), sophomores
Eddie Schmidt (3.53),
Joshua Zhao (3.96) and
Vibhu Challagundla (3.90), and redshirt-freshman
Lukas Escher all earned spots on the Scholar-Athlete list.
The Seahawks were also named an ITA All-Academic Team, which requires a team-wide GPA of 3.2 or more. The Green & White's GPA of 3.67 exceeded that threshold.
The Green & White are coming off its best season in program history, having earned many program-firsts in 2026. The Seahawks played in their first-ever NCAA Tournament after winning the program's first NEC crown. Additionally, Schmidt and Escher won Wagner's first-ever NEC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards respectively.
