Bronx, NY – The Wagner men's tennis team finished the fall slate unblemished at 7-0 following a 6-1 victory over Fordham University on Saturday.
Wagner began the afternoon by winning two of the three doubles matches. The freshman duo of
Allen Wang (Clovis, CA / Buchanan) and
Ryan Khan (Weston, FL / University School) combined for an 8-6 win in the No. 1 slot while the freshman tandem of
Michal Rolski (Kielczow, Poland / Oak Meadow, VT) and
Rick Delboi (Rosbach V.D.H., Germany / Anna-Schmidt-Schule) were victorious at No. 3 by a count of 8-5.
Rolski carried his momentum from his doubles match into singles play with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 while Khan battled his way to a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No.2. Freshman
Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA / Loyola College Prep) impressed yet again with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win at No.4 singles. Delboi pulled out a 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 win in the fifth spot,
ensuring the Green & White victory, while sophomore
Sam Flaxman (Avon, CT / Avon) won 6-4, 7-6 in the sixth spot.
"What a great way to end a fantastic fall season," said head coach
Danny Kreyman. "Ryan and Allen played some great doubles and I'm proud of Delboi for closing out a huge three-setter for us. I can't wait to see our guys make a run at the NEC's this spring"
