ResultsFlushing Meadow, NY - Freshman
Michal Rolski (Kielczow, Poland / Oak Meadow, VT) fell in the second round of the
USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships to Harvard senior Denis Nguyen 6-3, 7-6 (5).
"This was some really high quality tennis" said head coach Daniel Kreyman. "Rolski was neck and neck with an NCAA semifinalist. He'll be back next year, ready to win it."
Nguyen the tournament's No. 2 overall seed and a 2014 NCAA singles tournament semifinalist outlasted Rolski in a highly competitive and extremely intense match. Rolski pushed Nguyen to his limits, battling him on ever point throughout the contest. The two competitors combined for nine deuce points on the day.
The second set was some of Rolski's best tennis to date as he could have came away victorious in the set if a few bounces were to have gone his way. Nguyen showed why he was chosen as an All-American selection a year ago with his pose and finishing ability, narrowly edging Rolski to claim victory on the day.
Date back nearly a month to find Rolski's last loss, as he dropped a match to senior Victor Blasco of St. Francis Brooklyn on
September 26. Although Rolski couldn't ultimately grasped victory, this was yet again another leap forward in his development this season. Â
Freshman
Ryan Khan (Weston, FL / University School) gained his second victory in the consolation bracket with a 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 win against sophomore Gonzalo Quintana from Fairleigh Dickinson.Â
