Loretto, PA - Senior
Samantha Lauro (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) led the Wagner for the second-straight week in helping lead the Seahawks to a sixth-place finish at the 5K Father Bede Invitational in a preview of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship to be held on the course in early November.
Bryant's Eimear Black won the individual crown with a blistering time of 18:34 with Sacred Heart winning the team title with 45 points. Thanks to Black's performance, the Bulldogs finished second with 54 points, followed by Robert Morris (96 points), Central Connecticut (108 points), Fairleigh Dickinson (160 points), Wagner (164 points), Mount St. Mary's (174 points), Saint Francis U (175 points), St. Francis Brooklyn (191 points) and Pitt-Johnstown (290 points).
Lauro clocked a mark of 20:45 in placing 18th and was followed in 34th (21:25) by junior
Heather Wolf (Pine Brook, NJ / Montville Township).
Senior
Alexis Bivona (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) was the next member of the Green & White to cross the line, placing 38th (21:37). Freshman
Nicole Bell (Montague, NJ / Sussex County Technical) was directly behind Bivona, finishing 40th (21:40) in her collegiate debut. Senior
Cameo Kirk (Ocean Port, NJ / Shore Regional) rounded out the scoring for Wagner, finishing up 48th (22:05).
The Seahawks are next in action on Friday, October 11 at the 5K METS Championship, which will be held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
