Wagner Tops Bucknell, 8-6

Bakersfield, CA – In the second game of the day and last game of the Roadrunner Invite, the Seahawks posted a win against Bucknell, 8-6. The Seahawks got four goals from sophomore Jessica Burdge (Stockton, CA / St. Mary's) on the way to the victory.

Burdge got the scoring started in the first, after Michelle Greenough (Davis, CA / Davis) found her for the first goal of the game. The Seahawks led 2-0 after the first quarter when Greenough found after receiving a feed from freshman Jess Lundgren (Queensland, Australia / Mountain Creek).

Bucknell was held scoreless by goalie Laura Karbach (Abington, PA / Germantown Academy) in the first quarter, but the Bison did strike for three goals in in the second. Wagner went on to do the same, adding a goal by Burdge and two from Megan Rodriguez (Danville, CA / San Ramon Valley), who finished with two goals and two assists.

Karbach notched four saves as well as four steals on the afternoon, while freshman Lily Doerfler (Annapolis, MD / Broadneck) scored one goal, and sophomore Rachel Burns (Greenlane, Auckland, New Zealand / Diocesan School for Girls) added two assists.

The 10-7 Seahawks continue the California trip with a game Tuesday against Azusa Pacific, followed by a Wednesday game against Concordia. Wagner will finish the nine games in California next weekend, in the Cal Baptist Invitational.
