RESULTS
New York, NY - The Wagner Seahawks took home three first place finishes on the day as the Men's and Women's Track & Field teams competed at the NYC Armory for the second consecutive week, this time in the NYU Challenge.
Highlighting the women's side was freshman
Samantha Jensen (Ocean Gate, NJ / Central Regional) who ran to a first place finish in the 60 meter hurdles, while finishing fifth in the 60 meter dash. Jensen crossed the line in 8.97 seconds for the hurdles, while finishing the 60 meter dash in 8.01.
The Men received a good effort from sophomore
Matthew Kane (Horsham, PA / Hatboro-Horsham) when he tied a personal best, clearing 6'4.375” in the high jump, which took first place. Kane then went on to take fourth place in the long jump, leaping 21'1.5”.
Both the Men and Women had strong 4x800 relay teams, as the Men's team comprised of
Timothy Mendez,
James Naglieri,
Zachary Spector, and
Jacob Malakoff took first place in 7:53.28, while the Women's team comprised of
Alexis Bivona,
Samantha Lauro,
Cameo Kirk, and
Victoria Spector took second in 9:48.06.
The Seahawks also recorded three second place finishes on the Men's side. Senior
Alan Kopeloff (Staten Island, NY / Monsignor Farrell) took second in the 60 hurdles (8.46 seconds) while freshman
Darius Moulton (Brisbane, Australia / St. Josephs Gregory Terrace) did the same in the 800 meters (1:56.06) and freshman
Skylar Johnson had another personal best in the pole vault (15'3”) for his second place finish.
A school record was broken in the 500 meters, as sophomore
Kayleigh Macchirole finished fifth in 1:17.05.
Other notable performances included:
Zachary Spector in the mile, finished third in 4:19.51
Saquan Mitchell in the 60 meters, finished third in 7.03.
Alexis Bivona in the 800 meters, finished fourth in 2:19.98.
Tom Lindley in the shot put, finished fourth, at 47'4.5”.
