Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's basketball team looks to return to the win column when the Seahawks host the always-tough Colonials of Robert Morris at 4:00 pm this afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader with the Wagner men's team hosting Saint Francis (PA) at 7:00 pm.
Prior to the game, ceremony will take place honoring senior center
Kelly Clark (Neptune, NJ/ St. Rose) on becoming the 22
nd
player in Seahawk history to join 1,000-point club, which Clark did so at Quinnipiac on Jan. 28. Clark enters today's game with 1,016 career points.
Today's game is the only meeting of the season between the schools. The teams split their two meetings last season. On January 10, 2011, the Colonials recorded a 62-56 win over the Seahawks before knocking off the Seahawks 73-60 on February 28, 2011 in the season finale.
The Seahawks are paced by Clark who leads the team in scoring (14.0 points per game) and rebounding (8.0 rebounds per game). In Wagner's 10 NEC games, Clark is averaging 16.4 points per outing while shooting a sizzling 56.1 percent from the floor in conference play. On January 28, at Quinnipiac, Clark became the 22nd player in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark and enters the Robert Morris game with 1,016 career points.
Wagner has dropped 14 straight games to RMU but the Seahawks lead the series 29-23. . RMU has not lost to the Seahawks since the 2003-04 season. The Seahawks are 9-15 at home vs. the Colonials and 13-11 at RMU.
