Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's soccer team fell to Central Connecticut, 2-0, in a Northeast Conference game at Hameline Field on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Seahawks drop to 4-12 on the season, and 1-6 in NEC play, while Central Connecticut improves to 3-11-1, and 2-5 in conference action.
The Blue Devils struck for a tally in each half, with the first half goal coming off a penalty kick. Marissa Quesnel put Central Connecticut on the board first after a foul in the box gave her the penalty kick opportunity in the 28th minute.
The second goal came in the 52nd minute, as the Blue Devils' Kerriann Welch blasted a shot from 20 yards out, sneaking it inside the left upright for the deciding 2-0 margin.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Lisa Capelli (Manalapan, NJ/ Red Bank Catholic) made seven saves for Wagner in the defeat. Central Connecticut's Nikola Deiter stopped all five shots on goal she faced.
The Seahawks return to action on Sunday, Oct. 21, when the Green & White host Mount St. Mary's at 1:00 PM for Senior Day at Hameline Field. There will be a pregame ceremony to honor Wagner's four seniors,
