On the women's side, Wagner (2-11, 1-1 NEC) has been on the short end of six straight games, most recently dropping a pair of contests in the University of Virginia's Marriott Cavalier Classic. On Dec. 28, the Seahawks played ACC power Virginia on even terms for 10 minutes before the Cavaliers' size and athleticism took over en route to an 85-41 victory. In the third-place game vs. Southern Conference member Elon, the Green & White overcame a 16-point second-half deficit in forging a 46-46 tie before the Phoenix prevailed in the end, hanging on for a 60-57 victory.

Wagner is led by senior center and former Jersey Shore prep standout Kelly Clark, who is the Seahawks' leading scorer (13.2 ppg.) and rebounder (7.3 rpg.) while also leading the team in shooting percentage (.467, 10th in NEC). Wagner was victorious in the lone meeting played between the schools last season, earning a 67-50 win on Feb. 5, 2011 as Clark led four players in double figures with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting. In addition, Kelly's Aunt (her mother's sister), Grace (Paterno) Solomon, is a member of the Wagner College Hall of Fame. Who scored more than 1,300 career points while pulling down more than 800 career rebounds.

The Seahawks also feature freshman point guard Jacqui Thompson (Southampton, PA/ St. Basil Academy), who is second on the team in scoring at 7.5 points per game and leads the team in assists with 3.7 each time out., a figure that is tops among all NEC freshmen. Honored as the Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week on November 18, she tallied a career-high 15 points in a win over Columbia (11/16) and has reached double figures in four games this season. Thompson's high assist output came at NJIT (11-19) when she handed out nine helpers. She also had an eight-assist game vs. New Hampshire (12/21).

Junior forward Marie-Laurence Archambault (Montreal, Quebec/ Montmorency) averages 7.3 points per game and has drained a team-high 22 three-pointers on the season. She enters the Monmouth game ranked sixth on the Seahawk all-time career list in three-pointers made (142) and attempted (393).
