Iona Spoils Senior Day

Staten Island, NY – The Seahawks suffered an 11-9 loss to the Iona Gaels at Wagner's lone home game of the season. Up by one at the half, the Gaels entered the third quarter and found the net four times as Wagner was able to knock in only one. With the Gaels up 10-6 heading into the final eight minutes, the Seahawks were unable to overcome the four-point deficit.

Celebrating their final home games, senior co-captains Carina Giles (Mohton, PA / Governor Mifflin) and Laura Vanderbent (Shillington, PA / Governor Mifflin) along with junior Becca Hannings (Lansdale, PA / North Penn) each knocked in two goals for the Seahawks. Senior Natalie Pyrz (Harleysville, PA / Souderton Area), junior Chelsea Beck (Reading, PA / Wilson) and sophomore Leslie Poole (Downey, CA / Warren) all added one goal each for Wagner.

Lauren French (Colmar, PA / North Penn) led the team in drawn exclusions with four as Laura Vanderbent (Shillington, PA / Governor Mifflin) accumulated a team-high three steals. Carina Giles (Mohton, PA / Governor Mifflin) led Wagner with a total of five points with two goals and three assists.

Wagner is back in action this Sunday, March 27th at Harvard.
