Seahawks Split Day One At ECAC

Lewisburg, PA – Wagner College's water polo team currently stands at 1-1 after the conclusion of day one at the ECAC tournament. In the tip-off game of the day, Princeton downed the Seahawks 12-9 as Wagner answered back with a 7-5 win over Marist later on in the evening.

GAME ONE: Wagner vs. Princeton
The Green & White put nine points on the board in the match but couldn't surpass the the Ivy League Tigers who amassed a total of twelve goals. Junior Becca Hannings (Lansdale, PA / North Penn) led Wagner in goals with three as Lauren French (Colmar, PA / North Penn), Laura Vanderbent (Shillington, PA / Governor Mifflin) and Sidney Hoshko (Coronado, CA / Coronado) each scored twice.

Junior center back Chelsea Beck (Reading, PA / Wilson) displayed an impressive performance with a total of four steals and four assists.

GAME TWO: Wagner vs. Marist
In Wagner's second game of the tournament, six Seahawks found the back of the net in the 7-5 victory over Marist. Senior Natalie Pyrz (Harleysville, PA / Souderton Area) led the team in scoring amassing two goals. Adding one a goal each for the Seahawks were Molly Robinson (Lansdale, PA / North Penn), Lauren French (Colmar, PA / North Penn), Becca Hannings (Lansdale, PA / North Penn) and Sidney Hoshko (Coronado, CA / Coronado).

Junior Chelsea Beck (Reading, PA / Wilson) impressed again by also tacking on one goal, gathering four steals and amassing five assists. The Keystone State native accumulated a total of eight steals and nine assists in the first day of the tournament.

Wagner returns to finish out the tournament tomorrow at 11:30 AM.
