BOX SCORE

Staten Island, NY -
St. Francis (NY) overcame a six-point deficit with 2:30 to play en route to a 77-73 victory over Wagner, spoiling the Seahawks' Senior Day at the Spiro Sports Center. With the victory, Terriers improve to 13-14 and 8-8 in the Northeast Conference (NEC) while the Green& White fall to 13-14 and 9-7 in the league.

Wagner posted a -14 mark in the foul column as the Seahawks committed 33 fouls, leading to 41 free throws for St. Francis (NY) and the Terriers took full advantage, converting 75.6 percent (31-41) from the line. The Seahawks, meanwhile, shot 84.2 percent (16-19) from the charity stripe but was not able to keep up with St. Francis (NY) as the Green & White was more than doubled up from the line.

Wagner converted a blistering 57.4 percent (27-47) from the floor and were led by junior Tyler Murray (Toronto, Ontario / Eastern Commerce), who scored a team-best 18 points, on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor and an 8-of-9 effort from the line, with five assists. Freshman Orlando Parker (Orlando, FL / Orlando Christian Prep) sparked the Seahawk bench, which scored a season-best matching 35 points, with 14 markers, on perfect 7-of-7 shooting from the floor, while pulling down a game-high five rebounds.

Matching Parker with 14 points was junior Chris Martin (Sickleverille, NJ / Apex Academies) while sophomore Josh Thompson (Richland, NJ / St. Augustine Prep) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points.

Playing before a crowd of 2,067 and a regionally televised MSG audience, Wagner had the chance to put away St. Francis (NY) leading by as many as 12 points early in the second half but could not corral the Terriers. After Akeem Bennett cut the Seahawk lead to 40-34 with 15:24 to go in the game, Murray hit a lay-up and Parker a jumper while kick-starting a 7-2 run over the 2:36 - capped by a Martin three-point play that pushed lead out to double-figures for the last time at 47-36 with 12:48 to play.

St. Francis (NY) then ripped off seven-straight points in just 1:19 while drawing to within four at 47-43 with 11:02 to play. Murray immediately responded with two free throws before Martin picked the pocket of a Terrier defender and took it in for a lay-up while establishing an eight-point lead at 51-43 with 9:01 to play.

With the lead still at eight and just over six minutes to play, Ricky Cadell hit a lay-up before Dre Calloway stole the ensuing pass and Bennett scored two off the offensive rebound. Wagner was then whistled for a technical foul and Cadell hit the first before Bennett converted a four-point play after inbounding the ball, giving St. Francis (NY) a 56-55 lead with 5:15 to play.

The teams would match points on each of their next possessions before sophomore Danny Mundweiler (Overland Park, KS / Olathe East) hit a three pointer. Thompson followed with a jumper and Murray a pair from the line in giving the Green and White a 64-58 lead with just 3:15 to go.

After the teams traded three-point plays, Murray was whistled for his fifth foul on the offensive end, 40 feet from the basket. Cadell then buried a three pointer, bringing the Terriers to within one at 67-66 with 2:09 to go. Martin extended the Seahawks' lead to 69-66 with a pair from the line while giving the Green & White its last lead of the night. Travis Nichols tied the game up at 69-69 with 1:44 to play on the opposite end with a three pointer. After Wagner failed to answer, Nichols hit a lay-up while drawing the foul, giving the Terriers a two-point lead with just 53 seconds. After Nichols grabbed his own miss on the free throw attempt Cadell followed with a lay-up while drawing the foul. Cadell pushed the lead out to five with a free throw. Rivers then missed a lay-up and Cadell split a pair at the line while for all intents and purposes ending the game.

The Seahawks cut the lead to three with just under two seconds to play before falling 77-73. Cadell scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the second half - including 14 in the final 6:04 - and was 6-of-12 from the floor and 11-of-14 from the line. Bennett added 22 points while going 6-of-9 from the floor and 7-of-7 from the line.

St. Francis (NY) parlayed 20 turnovers into a 27-17 advantage in points off turnovers, including 20-8 in the pivotal second half, and won the battle of the boards by a 29-25 advantage, including 12-6 on offensive end.

Down 12-11 with 12:41 to go in the opening half, Wagner ripped off a 15-2 run over the next 4:10 - including 13-straight - while assuming a 26-14 lead with 8:13 to go until halftime. Parker got things going with a follow-up dunk before Martin drilled his only three pointer of the night. Murray followed with a pair of lay-ups before Thompson added a jumper and a thunderous dunk off a steal while putting the exclamation point on the Seahawks' 13th-straight point.

The Green & White would push the lead out to a game-high 13 before seeing the Terriers convert 7-of-8 over the final 6:14 of the first half en route to cutting the lead to 34-26 at intermission.

Wagner will look to rebound on Thursday, February 26 when the Seahawks heads to Saint Francis (PA) for a 7:00 pm affair.
