Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's basketball team (10-13, 3-9 NEC) will host Mount St. Mary's (6-17, 3-9 NEC) in the first of two consecutive games vs. the Mountaineers as part of the NEC's Rivalry Week. These teams will meet again on Monday, Feb. 14 at 7:00 pm in Emmitsburg, MD.
The teams enter Saturday's matchup in a tie for 10th place and these two head-to-head meetings will go a long way towards determining who qualifies for the upcoming eight-team NEC Tournament. The Seahawks come into the game off an 83-71 home loss to FDU on Monday in a game that Wagner led 38-30 early in the second half.
Wagner continues to be one of just two teams, along with first-place Robert Morris, to have four players averaging in double figures. Senior center
Kelly Clark leads the way at 13.0 ppg., and is shooting an NEC-best .561 from the field. Senior guard
Megan Mahoney checks in at 12.2 ppg., while sophomore forward
Marie-Laurence Archambault and senior forward
Ashley Olsen average 11.7 and 10.0 ppg., respectively.
