Box Score / Box Score (PDF) / Video Highlights / Folahan Postgame Interview / Final Seconds

Staten Island, NY -
Wagner used a 22-4 run to open the second half and break open what was a close game en route to convincing 90-50 victory over St. Francis (NY) at the Spiro Sports Center. The Seahawks, which had five double-figure scorers, improve to 6-2 and 1-1 in the Northeast Conference (NEC) while the Terriers fall to 2-5 and 1-1 in the league. The 40-point margin of victory was also the most by the Green & White against a Division I team since blowing out Sacred Heart 116-63 on February 22, 2000.

Wagner, which had lost five-straight to the visitors, led by a scant 36-27 score at halftime before exploding for a season-high 54 second-half points while shooting a smouldering 57.1 percent (16-28) from the floor and holding the visitors to just 23 points, on 27.3 percent (6-22) shooting. Additionally, the Seahawks dominated the glass to the tune of 44-29, including 12-8 on the offensive end, leading to a 38-18 advantage in the paint.

The Green & Which, which have now avenged losses to Princeton and St. Francis (NY) from last season will look to enact revenge on a third team in Hofstra on Tuesday, December 6 at 7:00 pm in the Spiro Sports Center. The Pride rallied for a 67-63 win over Wagner last year.

Junior Jonathon Williams (Richmond, CA / Kennedy / C.C. of San Francisco) led the way for the Seahawks, which shot a season-best 56.1 percent from the floor, with a game-high 18 points, on 7-of-11 shooting, in just 23 minutes of action. Additionally, in three home games at the Spiro Sports Center the Golden State native has led the team in scoring each time out while averaging a team-best 21.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game and is shooting 64.1 percent (25-39) from the floor.

Also turning in a solid game was senior co-captain and leading scorer Tyler Murray (Toronto, Ontario / Eastern Commerce). The Canadian native recorded 14 points, on an impressive 6-of-8 shooting - including 2-of-4 from long range - while grabbing seven rebounds over 29 minutes of action and is now averaging a team-best 14.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Sophomore Kenneth Ortiz (Newark, NJ / Science Park / Southern Mississippi) added 12 points to go along with six rebounds and a game-best four assisst while classmate Naofall Folahan (Cotonou, Republic of Benin / Wilbraham and Monson Academy (MA)) added 10 points. Leading the bench effort was senior Chris Martin (Sicklerville, NJ / Apex Academies), who had a season-best 14 points while notching double-figures for the fourth time this year.

St. Francis (NY), which shot a dismal 31.1 percent (14-45) from the floor, was led by Ben Mockford, who had nine points.

Up nine at the break, Williams got things rolling in the second half with this layup. After Akeem Johnson answered with a pair from the line, sophomore Latif Rivers (Elizabeth, NJ / Avon Old Farms (CT)), Ortiz and Folahan each converted lay-ups. Still not finished, Williams hit a pair from the line to cap the Green & White half-opening 10-2 run while extending the lead out to 46-29 with 17:28 to play.

Johnson again briefly quelled the run with a layup of his own. Williams immediately answered with this three pointer before Rivers scored four-straight points on this jumper and a pair from the line. Ortiz then converted this layup before Murray capped the 12-0 run with this three pointer, his second of the night, in extending Wagner's lead out to an insurmountable 58-31 with 13:53 to play. All told, the Seahawks began the half with a 22-4 run, fueled by 8-of-11 shooting from the floor, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.

The lead would grow to a season-high 42 as freshman Mario Moody (East Orange, NJ / East Orange Campus) applied the exclamation mark with an emphatic dunk off a pass from Ortiz for his first collegiate points of the year in his first appearance after missing the previous seven games due to injury.

Wagner forced at least 20 miscue for the third time this year, transferring 21 turnovers into a 24-12 advantage in points off turnovers as the Seahawks would go on to win by an easy 90-50 count.

For the second time this year, 10 members of the Green & White scored as Wagner notched its most points in a game since hitting the 90-point mark in a 90-80 win over Quinnipiac on January 20, 2011.

The opening half was a back-and-forth affair with Wagner sprinting out of the gates with a 10-3 spurt at the first media timeout (15:40), capped by this Folahan dunk off a pass from Williams. The Seahawks would push the lead out to eight on three occasions, the last of which came on this Murray three pointer, his first of the game, extending the lead to 19-11 with 13:15 to go.

The Terriers would then embark on a 10-4 run to cut the deficit to 23-21 at the 5:40 mark of the first. The teams traded baskets before Wagner scored eight-straight points en route to a half-ending 10-4 run, leading to the Seahawks' 36-27 halftime lead.
