Carolyn Clark (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) tallied two goals apiece but it was not enough as Mount St. Mary's defeated Wagner 11-5.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 3-11 on the season, 2-6 in Northeast Conference play while the Mountaineers improve to 7-7 overall, 4-3 in league play.
Wagner jumped out to an early 3-2 lead on an unassisted goal by Clark with 11:00 remaining in the first half. Mount St. Mary's responded with six consecutive goals, bridging the first and second halves, in building a commanding 8-3 lead before Clark stopped the bleeding with a goal at the 13:58 mark of the second half to make it an 8-4 game.
Petrik then scored on a free position shot with 11:10 left to play to draw Wagner to within 8-5 but Mount answered with three consecutive goals in forging the 11-5 win.
Mount out-shot Wagner 28-17 and led in draw controls 11-7. Wagner held a 20-18 advantage in ground balls.
Ashley Johnson scored four goals to lead the Mountaineers while Jordan Certeza and Meaghan Conlon added two goals apiece.
Wagner is next in action on Sunday, April 18 at 1:00 pm when the Seahawks host Monmouth on Senior Day.
