Wagner Women’s Golf Takes 11th at Hartford Invitational

West Hartford, CT- The Wagner College women's golf team finished 11th at the three-day long Hartford Invitational last weekend. The contest was held at the par 72, 5801 yard Rockledge Golf Course consisting of a field of 64 competitors.

Freshman Miko Page (Brooklyn, NY / Edward R Murrow) paced the team, finishing in 30th while recording rounds of 88 and 79 (167). Senior Dena Smith (Highland Heights, OH / Beaumont) followed Page in 42nd place with a two day total of 174 (87/87). Rounding out the pack of Wagner's finishers were freshman Keri Muse (Sterling, VA / Dominion) in 50th (88/89), junior Caitlin Etienne (Richfield, MN / Richfield) tied for 52nd (93/88) and sophomore Kaitlin Osmundsen (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) finishing tied for 58th (89/97).

“I am pleased with the progress we are making as a team and we finally showed some of that movement this Monday and Tuesday at Hartford,” said Assistant Coach Chris Fourman. “Our girls are beginning to play more consistent golf and our scores being so tight together are an indication of that. We still have a tremendous amount of work to do around the greens, but I am certain that their play this weekend was a step in the right direction heading into conferences.

“Miko's play on Monday was stellar and we are proud of her finish among a field of very good golfers,” added Fourman. “However, Miko was not overly satisfied with her overall score. In speaking with her, she felt that she could have been several shots lower.”

"I needed to have putted better today to go lower, but I felt really confident with my shots today, said Page."

Wagner returns to action Thursday, April 22 when the Seahawks travel to Orlando, FL to compete in the NEC Conference Championships at the Champions Gate Golf Club.
