Laura Vanderbent (Shillington, PA/The Hill School) carried the Seahawks past tournament host Cal. Lutheran University, 8-7, in day two of the Seahawks' time in the Cal. Lutheran Spring Classic. The junior tied a career-high with four goals in the game.
It was all Seahawks in the first half, taking a 6-3 lead entering halftime after scoring four goals in the first quarter and two in the second. The second half was a different story with the Regals out scoring the Seahawks 2-1 in both the third and fourth quarters.
Senior keeper Kelsey Rodgers (Anaheim Hills, CA/Fullerton JC) battled hard in net to make sure the Cal. Lutheran offense did not force overtime with her eight saves in the game.
The rest of the Seahawk scoring was spread amongst the sophomore class with Chelsea Beck (Reading, PA/Wilson), Molly Robinson (Lansdale, PA/North Penn), Lauren French (Colmar, PA/North Penn) and Becca Hannings (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) each netting one goal.
The Seahawks have one game remaining in the Cal. Lutheran Spring Classic with a match against Whittier College later today at 3:15 PM EST. The Seahawks look to stay perfect against the Poets as they boast a 4-0 all-time record against Whittier.
