Wagner takes Sixth at Hawk Spring Invitational

Lakewood, NJ- The Wagner College women's golf team finished sixth last weekend at Monmouth University's Hawk Spring Invitational held at the par 72, 5810 yard Eagle Ridge Golf Course. Leading the Green & White in the invitational was freshman Miko Page (Brooklyn, NY/ Edward R Murrow), who tied for 14th in the 39-player competition.

Page recorded a two round total of 169 (84-85). Senior captain Dena Smith (Highland Heights, OH / Beaumont) carded a 97 in round one and an 87 in round two for a 184 aggregate which placed her in tie for 25th. Junior Caitlin Etienne (Richfield, MN / Richfield) (102-94) and sophomore Kaitlin Osmundsen (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) (98-98) both finished tied for 33rd in the competition while freshman Keri Muse (Sterling, VA / Dominion) rounded out the squad with a 36th place finish.

“We got a really good look at where we are as a team and as individuals this weekend,” said assistant coach Chris Fourman. “We certainly learned the areas that we need to quickly improve upon to be successful during the rest of the spring season leading up to conferences.”

“I think that Miko's two rounds of 84, 85 are commendable considering the conditions and we are happy with her 14th place finish on a course she has never seen before,” he added. “For the rest of our girls, the rounds at Eagle Ridge this weekend were a strong test of their resolve and while we cannot take much pride in our finish as a team, we can build from our finish by making proper adjustments going forward.”

The Seahawks return to action Friday, April 9th when they travel to Farmingdale, NY to compete in a tri-meet with Hofstra and Saint Francis (NY).
