Wagner Upended by Robert Morris 14-2

– On the heels of Thursday's excruciating 13-12 loss at Saint Francis (PA), the Wagner College women's lacrosse dropped a 14-2 decision at Robert Morris this afternoon.

In losing their sixth straight game, the Seahawks fall to 1-6 on the season and 0-2 in the Northeast Conference while Robert Morris improves to 4-3 on the season, 2-0 in conference play.

Ashley Trombetta led the way for Robert Morris with nine points on six goals and three assists. Trombetta got into the act early, scoring the Colonials' first two goals of the game before senior midfielder Krista Malayter (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) registered an unassisted goal with 22:54 left in the opening half to make it a 2-1 game. After RMU rattled off four unanswered tallies, Wagner's other goal was notched by senior midfielder Teri Noll (Elbridge, NY/Jordan-Ellbridge Central) on a free position attempt with 5:17 left to make it a 6-2 deficit.

The Colonials netted the final goal of the first half to take a 7-2 lead into the locker room at halftime. In the second half, RMU out-scored Wagner 7-0 in the en route to the 14-2 victory.

Statistically, the Colonials outshot Wagner 32-15, led in ground balls 15-13 and in draw controls 10-8. RMU was 3-of-6 on free position attempts while Wagner was 1-of-5 on free position attempts. In goal, senior Alex Johnston (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) came up with 14 saves on the afternoon.

Wagner is next in action on Friday, March 26 when the Seahawks play host to the Pioneers of Sacred Heart in a 3:30 pm tilt.
