Women’s Golf Finishes 12th at Mt. Holyoke Invitational

Freshman Miko Page

South Hadley, MA- The Wagner College women's golf team finished 12th this weekend at the Par 72, 5,880 yard Orchard Golf club. Leading the pack for the Seahawks was freshman Miko Page (Brooklyn, NY / Edward R Murrow), finishing tied for 33rd in the field of 80 competitors.

Page paced the Seahawks with rounds of 81-96 (177). Junior Dena Smith (Highland Heights, OH / Beaumont) was tied for 50th overall with a 186 (94-92) while sophomore Kaitlin Osmundsen (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) shot a 190 (92-98) for the 58th spot. Rounding out the pack in 69th and 73rd-place, respectively, were freshmen Keri Muse (Sterling, VA / Dominion) and Alyssa Kuhn (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville).

"As a team, the women endured a great deal this weekend on the tough Orchards Golf Club at Mt. Holyoke's campus, where the 2004 US Women's Open was played,” said assistant coach Chris Fourman. “For three of our girls, this was their first collegiate event, and certainly there is some adjusting that must take place. The girls also played in some very nasty conditions that were not conducive to good scoring. Miko Page did put together a great first round score for us and was only a few shots out of first place. We are still very excited about the rest of the season for the girls, and as we get a few more tournaments under our belt, we should see a good deal of improvement over this weekend's finish. Next weekend we are in Virginia where we are hopeful that scoring conditions will be much improved."

Overall, St. Lawrence bested the field, shooting a two-round total of 643 (322-321). Amherst garnered second-place honors, recording a 655 (324-331) followed by Williams in third-place with a 667.

The Seahawks return to action Saturday, October 3rd when they travel to Williamsburg, VA to compete in the ECAC Championships.
