Villane Shatters 400m Hurdles Record at ECAC’s

Princeton, NJ –
Junior Matt Villane (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional) finished the 400 meter hurdles in 54.01 seconds at the 2009 ECAC and IC4A Track and Field Outdoor Championships held in Princeton, NJ this weekend. Villane shattered the previous school record of 54.47 seconds set on May 3rd. He placed 22nd out of 33 competitors.

Villane showed significant improvement over the last month. He finished the 400 meter hurdles in 55.47 at the Wagner College Invitational on April 4th. From there, he ran 54.52 on April 11th and 54.47 at the Northeast Conference Championships on May 3rd.

He finished his collegiate career with two Wagner College records in the 400 meter hurdles and the 4x 100 relay (41.40 seconds on March 15, 2008).
